The Canterbury Youth Voices have been invited to be the official youth choir at the D-Day Commemoration Ceremonies in Normandy, France in June of 2020. You can read more about this trip in The Oklahoman.
The tour to Normandy, France will cost approximately $3,500 per person. Our ultimate goal would be to fund this trip in its entirety, so that all students could attend this important and historic opportunity.
At a minimum, Canterbury is raising $91,000, to send all students participating on scholarship in our youth choirs, in addition to the choirs conductors.
Will you help us reach this lofty goal?
What opportunities will singers on this trip have?
Singers will perform at commemoration ceremonies at both the Normandy and Brittany American cemeteries. They will also perform at Sainte-Mère-Église, the first village to be liberated by American paratroopers, in a American Musical Salute to Liberation. Students will also have the opportunity to tour important historic sites, such as the Omaha and Normandy beaches, and sites in Paris, including Montmare, the Louvre, and the Eiffel Tower.
