Apprentice Choirs
Unchanged voices, Grades 2-6
Singers learn appropriate repertoire and musical literacy skills in the CYC Apprentice Choirs, the preparatory ensemble for the youngest singers. Instructional goals include giving each child the necessary skills for a lifelong appreciation of choral singing.
In Apprentice Choirs, students:
- Appear regularly on CYV concerts
- Three appearances as OkMEA Honor Choir
- Tour within central Oklahoma
- Receive a strong Kodály Method* of musical literacy and choral performance skills.
* Studies have shown that the Kodály Method improves intonation, rhythm skills, music literacy, and the ability to sing in increasingly complex parts.
