Susan Pendergraft has 32 years of experience teaching music, and retired from public education in 2021. She has been a conductor with Canterbury Youth Voices since 2014, currently leads the Canterbury Youth Voices Prelude choir, and also enjoys singing second soprano with Canterbury Voices.

She is a graduate of Newcastle High School, and holds a degree in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma. She has taught in Newcastle, Putnam City, Moore, and Oklahoma City. She was nominated by her colleagues at Briarwood Elementary as Teacher of the Year in 1995. She became a National Board Certified Teacher in 2007. She was again honored by her colleagues as 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year at Earlywine Elementary, and went on to be one of five district finalists. Susan is a member of National Music Educators Association, American Choral Directors Association, and Chorus America.

Her Canterbury Youth Voices Apprentice Choir was selected as an Honor Choir and performed at the 2019 State OkMEA Convention, and she has conducted Circle the State with Song in Region N, Region M, and Region C. Susan continues to teach workshops and conduct children’s choirs throughout Oklahoma.
