Canterbury Voices is made up of many of Oklahoma City Metro’s finest adult musicians, comprised of all volunteer singers. We frequently perform with arts organizations like the OKC Philharmonic, the OKC Ballet, Lyric Theatre, and the OKC Jazz Orchestra. Learn more about our 26-27 Season here.

Canterbury Voices presents 3 concerts per season and rehearse on Monday evenings from 7:00 – 9:15 PM. Auditions will be held August 2-4 on the campus of Oklahoma City University. The season begins with a Morning Retreat: Saturday, August 15 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 noon. Members of Canterbury Voices who are interested in auditioning for Canterbury Chamber Voices will audition for this smaller ensemble on Saturday, August 15 from 1:00 – 2:30 PM.

Adult Audition Schedule:

Participation in Canterbury Voices is determined by a live audition with Artistic Director Dr. Julie Yu. Interested adults are encouraged and invited to schedule an audition appointment.

Our concert season runs from August-May. Applicants need to be age 18 or older. Current collegiate students are encouraged to audition post graduation. Please email Sarah@CanterburyOKC.com with any questions.

Audition Requirements:

  • Singers should prepare one piece: folk tune, hymn, art song, aria or classical musical theatre piece. If you prepare a hymn for the audition and you sing a part other than soprano, please be prepared to sing the melody as well as your own part (alto, tenor or bass).
  • Singers should demonstrate vocal performance, ability and presentation (i.e. posture, expression, tone, and range).
  • Singers are expected to have previous singing experience (preferably choral).
  • Singers need to be available for all rehearsals & performances.
  • Auditions must be accompanied. A professional accompanist is provided. Please bring a copy of music for the accompanist. Time restraints may mean that you may not sing through your entire song. You may be asked to do simple vocalizing to determine vocal range.
