Canterbury Voices took the reins of the Children’s Choral Society of Oklahoma in 1997, and grew it into a four-choir, 200-voice educational organization named Canterbury Youth Voices (CYV). Canterbury Voices’ unique partnership with Oklahoma City University’s Wanda L. Bass School of Music provides an opportunity for a fully-realized internship program, giving current choral music education students practical teaching experience with children and youth choirs from grades 2-12.
Judith Willoughby (1949-2024), Former Professor of Conducting and Choral Music Education at Oklahoma City University, led the Canterbury Youth Voices program from 2005-2016. Today, CYV is led by Artistic Director Dr. Karsten Longhurst and three OKC award-winning public school music educators, including former OCU CYV Intern, Meredith Ziegler.
